I live in an industrial town and from time to time after a rain there are deposits on my car, white spots, I don't know what they are.
In the past a plant about a mile away let loose sulfuric acid that destroyed many paint jobs and a college football stadium full of plastic seats.

The thing is, I knew that is was nothing in the rain and that it was something specific to the finish on this particular frame. I have 11 bikes, 9 of which have been in downpours with nothing like the effect on this one. It would have helped if I had pointed that out.
