I see... the more I read on cycling the more I read on "elitist" cyclists. The issue is, I am stationed away from home somewhere in good ol' American town, Illinois. I am originally from east side Bay Area, CA in the city of Union City. Sure my commute to work right now is 1 mile-1 way. 4 miles total by the end of the day (morning commute, lunch and return commute). My school back home after I leave the military will be 30 miles away and will be 100% on road. Would it make more sense to get the road bike than my hybrid? I also considered taking it out on the weekend and cycling for about 50 miles just for fitness.
