Too much rambling and not enough questions in the first post. What I really want to know is...
Would I be better off getting an older touring bike frame with possibly some useable parts, or getting a new Long Haul Trucker frame? Would a 20 year old steel frame in good condition be up to the stresses of rough road touring?
If the old bike has 27" wheels and cantilever brakes, will I be able to put 700c wheels on it without making other modifications?
