Nick,I don't think those BA's will fit. If you're looking for fat and fast,and willing to spend the dosh,Schwalbe makes Marathon Supremes in 700x40. I've run Supremes on several bikes and they're like sport bike radials.

And I've had several hybrids with 28's that rode fine,even with my CT and DC's crappy roads.
