In my experience, Big Apples are not "fast" in the sprinting sense, but they are very efficient at cruising speeds.
They gobble up rough cobbled surfaces, allowing you to cruise over terrain that you would pick over on a 32mm 700c.
Tyre pressure makes a difference and mine work best when inflated quite hard.
The only surfaces where BAs dont work is slippery stuff. Snow, wet, sticky clay trails. On dry trails they work fine.
