Bikes: 2015 Giant Roam 2 Hybrid

Well, no easy answer. Whatever fits your size, weight, riding style and budget.

I bought a Giant Sedona last year after struggling with an old steel frame Schwinn beach cruiser for a few months, this after a riding hiatus of a decade or more. I thought I wanted a more upright riding position and the comfort of the seat post suspension. I was right at the breaking point between L and XL frame size so I went with the smaller size because it was black, and I like black bikes. Well, I got "the bug" and after ramping up my riding to where I was on the street most of the time I soon saw the shortcomings of this bike too. So I went back and got a Giant Roam 2. XL frame, larger 700c wheels, trigger instead of twist shifter, narrower and more gear section and hydraulic disc brakes. WOW! What a difference. I am more comfortable and my performance raised about 20% on the first ride.

So, it's not easy. Really think about what you want, and also what you MIGHT need. Shop around, get some ideas from LBSs rather than the forum - we can't see you or talk to you. And make a selection. If you get hooked into riding, then it may not be what you need next year.

Having said that, the Giant Sedona was a good bike, the Giant Roam 2 is better.
