My wife's first near miss

We were traveling along a country road at a steady 14-15 mph pace (her leading) on a Sunday morning ride. A minivan slowly passes us giving us plenty of room. All is well until they decide to turn right into a church parking lot. I saw the signal but they were even with my wife so she had no clue. I tried to warn her but she didn't hear me or understand me. The minivan turned directly in front of my wife forcing her to hit the brakes and almost hit the ditch next to the road. The minivan hadn't even returned to her lane before turning into the church. Classic right hook. My wife managed to avoid the car, the ditch and even managed to get unclipped before coming to a complete stop. The minivan continued to the parking lot. I rode over and looked in and discovered it was a very old woman. I tapped on her window to let her know what had happened. She just shrugged her shoulders. After circling the car a couple of times I saw her get out and head towards the back of the car. I thought she was going to apologize to my wife but she just went around to the passenger door to help her even older husband out of the back seat. My wife again let her know what she had done but still got no response.

At this point I decided to just leave it alone. Nothing was going to come of talking to them. They were clueless. I would bet they only drive to church on Sundays. At least I hope so. I am all for elderly drivers having to pass a driving test annually after the age of 75. Be safe out there.
