I don't use carbon paste with any of my carbon parts. I just make sure that the contact surfaces are clean...then torque to ~5nm. I've never has any issues with slipping or creaking.
Carbon paste just scratches the crap out of the finish.
So does clamping a carbon part in a stem... might as well do it right and make sure it doesn't move.
