I'm betting ignorance would be the rule. Hell ignorance is bliss, why ruin your hobby by reading the crime page? I just learned today that a pack of hooligans has decided that a pellet gun is a good match for cyclists in the areas I often ride (nice areas too...), tomorrow I'll ride and bolo for a dark sedan with a gun muzzle pointing out of it and leave it at that. I then searched for cycle deaths on the local news site in search for a specific accident to cite in a post. That was a dumb move.
