I've was surprised when I read someone post that they prefered a road bike to a touring bike since touring bikes are known for a more upright, comfortable posture. I prefer an upright ride and larger tires than you usually have on a road bike. I still remember riding downtube shifting "10 speed bikes" of the 1970's. I found it was really rough and weird-riding around my parents cottage.

That being said, certain hybrid or mountain bikes are fun to me in the sense you feel like a 10 year old kid. I saw some children riding bicycles once saying "It's the only way to fly" and I think I knew exactly how they felt.
