Freehub bodies are specific to hubs and a Campy freehub body (or a Shimano for that matter) can't be fitted to a Mavic hub. You need a body specific to your Mavic hub and one that designed to accept 9/10-speed Campy cassettes. As TS noted, the 9/10-speed Campy body is wider than the 8-speed body.
The 10 speed large cog also hangs off the end of the free hub via a dimple (Veloce and below, 2009-2010 Centaur, and Centaur 14-23 cassettes) or carrier that does not mount it flush.
