If you find your frame works for you and it's all in good order and you want to pick up a little more speed and maneuverability, consider putting slick tires on it like Schwalbe Big Apples or even having a narrower wheel set made up and run 35's or smaller on it. These days there are so many parts to adapt bikes to different tasks, it's really great. You could set up a nice new set of wheels for narrow tires for <$250-$300 if you poke around. If you changed over your existing gear cassette, even less.
If I could have fit on average sized bike frames, I would have just done a Craig's List used mountain bike conversion rather than the build I just did, which is essentially an odd hybrid build of a mountain frame into a heavy duty multi-task bike.
