A bicycle commute for me would be a little over 17 mi one way. Most of this (12 mi) would be on a multipurpose trail. The rest would be city streets. Is this too far for a commute? I would probably do it 2-3 days a week and drive on the other days, unless traffic was so bad that it was consistently faster by bike. I feel tired enough at the end of a 100 mile week, I'm not sure I could keep up with much more.
