If that's so it might have to do with the flex you could put on them when you stood on them. They were slimmer and lighter than Campy Record and most certainly so than the newer Suntour and Shimano designs of that time. They were a beautiful crankset though and more so than the Ofmega Competizone that I replaced it with, imo.
