I don't claim to be an expert but I've been very happy with my Shimano CX70 crankset and front derailleur. The der is specifically designed for the 46t bigring, the 36/46 gearing works really well, and the shifting is quick and reliable. Also, the der comes in a top-pull option which is great because there's no need for a pulley.
