+1 that scuff is what makes me a little suspicious. If it's just dark grease, the OP would be well served to clean it off before talking with a rep about a warranty situation. Not trying to say someone should try to commit fraud, but that scuff or whatever it is makes me wonder (perhaps needlessly).
