Bikes: Surly Steamroller, GT Pulse, Specialized S-Works E5

No way man, fixies are great for it. Just because they are simple doesn't mean that you can't make one technologically advanced.

What's nice about them (if you're a wackjob like myself) is that you can build (or buy) a fixie that hits/breaks the UCI weight limit for a fraction of the cost of a road bike that does the same. And then think of all the cool aero frames and components that come out of velo racing. I think that fixies are actually pretty "techy", at least on the track side of things, which is what happens when you push on technology to get you that 0.001 second advantage.

As an aside, the fork on that GT doesn't really strike me as more or less matching than a nice carbon fork. It's black and aluminum, yes, but to me that's about all it has going for it in the match department. Then again, I think my EC90 fork matches my Steamroller quite well.

Now, just imagine that Pulse with an EC90 Aero fork. Sick. It might even make up for my lack of skills when I take it to the ghettodrome. Just kidding.

Anyway, I'm putting a stop to this discussion. Back to hardcore eBaying...
