drivers who see me approaching an intersection and stop for me even though I have a stop sign and they do not, and even though I am in the process of stopping. FOOL! I was just in a groove and made a legal stop, now I'm stopped, so I'm gonna wipe my brow and sip my water, whatever, and I'm not about to rush to get going cuz you were foolish enough to make an un-required stop. sometimes they sit there and want you to acknowledge their courtesy. and while it is appreciated I am now in the awkward position to show them what fools they are by waving them on and pointing to my stop sign. I wave in thanks so as not to let them know what fools I think they are. I do appreciate the thought but once I'm stopped, don't wave me on, cuz it's gonna take a minute or so to get going again. maybe if I were an illegal stop sign runner it would have been appropriate but I'm over 50, I wear his vix clothing, I have strobes front and rear, middle class white male riding in the suburbs .. I'm not a teen or early 20 something with no helmet riding in an urban area like Cambridge. you wanna stop for bikes? go to Cambridge! this also goes for rail trail road crossing where the cyclist has the stop sign. don't stop! I just stopped cuz I'm supposed to. you are not supposed to stop especially if I have already stopped and am waiting for you to pass!
