Back in the day another practical use for gloves was cleaning tires on the fly, to reduce punctures from pebbles, glass, ect. Still find them useful for wiping sweat when it's 100F plus out. Never do wear socks though.

Took off the gloves because they were just wet rags that kept me from controlling the brakes in the rain, they just get wet and in the way, every ride, better control without them,imho
