Dirtdrop,

My problem isn't excactly chain tension, but it is a Simplex rear derailer on a 1983 Peugeot.

The problem is that the first (closest to the hub) little Huret (I think) gear/sprocket rubs the plastic spoke protector. Consequently, I can't go into the last gear.

I have totally disassembled the rear derailer; right down to everything except the rivets. It seems to all be working smoothly and adjusted properly. For example, I can manually (or with the cable) push it all the way against the spokes (IE it is not stopping on the adjustment limit screw).

I doesn't appear that my rear bike frame or lugs in that area is bent either.

I can ride on the other gears but it bugs me that something is wrong here.

Thanks for any insight you have from your experience.
