I use them on foot, daily for commuting and in the subway and on noisy ferries they are great. I still have to be very careful when crossing any traffic lanes, bike lanes etc on foot. Takes adjusting to.

On my bicycle or on my motorcycle, I found them to be simply too isolating if there is any traffic around at all, which means my entire region is no good for me. I don't even like using them on an MUP as you won't hear someone coming from behind. On the motorcycle at speed, they aren't as bad as the bicycle because the damping of wind noise actually makes hearing cars along side easier, but you need to leave the music very low and I do wear at least foam ear plugs on the motorcycle anyway for this feature.

Do what you want, but just get yourself used to strict discipline of using your eyes much more than you normally would. Look both ways, twice heh.
