I've used Paselas quite a bit on dirt and gravel roads, and ridden the same tires on a paved century. I like them a lot--I've probably had four or five sets. Get the TGs, with the Kevlar belt. I ride 37mm when I can find them, but I weigh 240.
You might also look at Schwalbe, maybe a Big Ben or Little Ben. Next time I re-tire, I think I'm going to try Little Bens.

EDIT: probably should mention that I've had a couple of sidewalk cuts from sharp rocks, but it was in a situation where I think nearly any lightweight tire would have failed. I saw the rocks, had doubts and went ahead. Pfffft.
