Stages tech support has been responsive. They acknowledge that with the latest 500 firmware the Stages PM may take up to 3-4 minutes to calibrate (I had been giving up after a minute or two). They said that they will try to fix the problem with a Stages firmware update. (They make the units to order so they always ship with the latest firmware; updating firmware on an existing unit requires an iphone 4s or 5.) I'll report back if I hear anything more.
