The repair route is just throwing good money after bad. Sell it for $50 to $100 to a young diy guy. Then swallow hard and buy a new or good used bike for under $1500. There are a lot of them out there. Like you say, you want to enjoy your leisure time doing your hobby and that doesn't include nursing an old bike. Will a new bike last 20 years - depends. If you do the same thing with this one as you did with the last one and store it for a large chunk of the time, probably. If you ride it 100+ miles a week maybe not without a fair bit of maintenance.
