The link didn't work for me, so I didn't see what model you had. But it looks to me like all three of their cx bikes would be great for commuting. I don't think there's any particular reason to go elsewhere if it's a hassle. If you didn't already, I'd strongly recommend getting fenders and a rack.
By the way, there are a lot of bikes that aren't exactly cx bikes but are designed for commuting or touring so they're way more durable than pure road bikes and use fatter tires. They all have rack and fender mounts all over. Some are:

Jamis Aurora
Bianchi Volpe
And then there are some cx bikes that are actually aimed more at commuting and touring than cx racing. So they have rack and fender mounts and meant to be durable, like:
Specialized Tricross
Surly Cross Check
Trek Crossrip
But it looks like the one you had is great, especially if you want a racier style.
