I would look for something used... within that price point you could get something much nicer, I picked up my look 555 for $1000, virtually unridden from a guy that "never got into it." and its not like I just got lucky, I do come across high quality bikes around that price point constantly here on NY craigslist.

I had a BD fixed gear some years back... it was crap, just my $.02
