I should ad that my saddle is comfortable without biking shorts but any distance over 25 miles I wear Pearl Izumi elite shorts for added comfort. But I'd get your saddle figured out first. Ask your LBS if they have a take off saddle box you can dig around in. I picked up 4 nice saddles for $25 to try a few months ago and that's how I found my WTB Rocket V.
