Troll much? Where did I say that all motorists are bigots?
If you treat me as traffic with an equal right to the road then we will get along just fine. If, on the other hand, you treat me like someone who does not have a right to the road then you are a bigot and we will most definitely not get along.
The vast majority of motorists in PDX share the road and are considerate to cyclists (often overly considerate). If a motorist does not share the road, and shows their
prejudice, I will not back lie back and think of England.
I would further ad that the actions of cyclist like you whom have an agenda lessen the safety of those of us that do not.
I am not second class traffic. I have the same rights and legal responsibilities as motorized traffic.
I know many cyclists and have been on the road for many years I observe cyclist like Buzzman all the time. Take the lane when needed, ride to the right when unsafe to be in the lane and share the road.
When I am riding at "the normal speed of traffic" I take the full lane and position myself so that I can prevent a pass in lane. This is my specific legal right in OR. When I am riding more than 5 mph below the speed limit I
typically cede the lane (when it is safe to do so).
For your edification:
814.430: Improper use of lanes; exceptions; penalty. (1) A person commits the offense of improper use of lanes by a bicycle if the person is operating a bicycle on a roadway at less than the normal speed of traffic...and the person does not ride as close as practicable to the right curb or edge of the roadway.
Similar statutes exist in most states.
