I have attended planning sessions put on my USAC level I cycling coach discussing the 6 month window and that was for elite racers. When I did Masters Track Worlds in 2010, I talked with the British Coach about how he laid out the season for the British trackies with Worlds in October. He said that if they started racing early in the season, he programmed a 6 week mid season break. So from his perspective, the top masters racers are limited in what they can do in a year.
Since you have had a break, maybe you do a couple of omniums but not have any great expectations for results and start winding down. This is supposed to be fun so if you want to do it and you feel good, do it.
