I liked his description of how children would design cities. When my grandson was 10, we were walking to one of his favorite spots. He said,"You know, if there weren't any cars we wouldn't have to walk as far." I asked him what he meant. "We'll, if there were no cars the streets would be smaller and they wouldn't take up all the room. Places would be closer together and we wouldn't have to walk as far." Smart kid--understanding something that our smart engineers can't figure out. Then he had fun figuring out all the other ways we could "save room" in the city if there were no cars, things like parking lots and that stupid drive-thru at the pharmacy.
Yeah, imagining cities without parking lots is a major mind shift. But when you do, it keys you in to how major a change car-free living would be. Not that I expect to see it unless I move to Mackinac Island.
