At exactly 5'00" my wife had the same problem. We finally had to special-order her a Cannondale Synapse WSD in a 44-size, but the bars were still too wide. The LBS swapped them for a Bontrager 36cm set, but I'm sure there are other choices also. She is quite happy with the bike, but the seat at its' lowest position is still slightly too high. Totally agree there should be more road bike options for shorter women.
