The only semi recent picture of me biking, is from 2010 while biking at work in Iraq. It is what I would typically wear commuting in the U.S in 70°+ weather except for the long pants and boots. In the U.S. I normally wear regular shorts at any temp above 50°; sandals above 70°.
I loved that white cap, purchased for 25¢ at a garage sale. It was white, ventilated and flat so it didn't interfere with the headset I normally wear when riding my bike. I wore that hat for seven years of cycling but lost it somewhere in Iraq and have not been able to find a really suitable substitute. Baseball/farmer type caps are OK but aren't as good.
The other 4 pictures are the clothes worn for what I would consider more epic commuting, 12 miles one way at minus 5°F. Luckily I had my own office where I could hang all the sweaty clothes. I sweated plenty but was never cold except for toes and finger tips. The clothes are hung in order of wear, two layers of socks; shorts, thermal longjohns and sweat pants; Alert Tshirt (good for summer wear too), chamois shirt, polypro shirt, denim jacket with attached hood, polyester vest; light weight cotton gloves and insulated mittens; insulated boots and heavy duty rubber overshoes; not shown knit cap worn under jacket hood. No cycling specific gear or silly willy so-called "kit."
