What makes you think a PY-10 is better than a PX-10? Most PY-10s had the same frame as the PX-10s produced in the same year, but the PY-10 could be ordered with custom components and colors. (A few PY-10s were available with custom tube sets and frame dimensions, but not many.)
If you want to try to ID you bike, you could:
1.
Look on line for Peugeot decal patterns andcompare with you bike to find the approximate year.
2.
Look on line for Peugeot catalogs for around theyear of your bike for what standard component the PX-10 came with.
3.
If you bike matches the standard PX-10, it likely is a PX-10.
4.
If the components are different, it could be a PY-10, or a PX-10 that someone changed components.

PY-10
1975-1980 in U.S. Available in Europe through 1986.
In 1974 Peugeot opened their prestige frame shop which specialized in the production of custom specification Reynolds tubed framesets. These custom frames were called PY-10's. Similar to a PX-10 in design and styling, a PY-10 could be ordered to a customers personal specifications. Options included, but were not limited to, custom geometry, color, components and braze on options. PY-10's were primarily built with thin gauge, butted Reynolds tubing. The French market was fortunate in that they were able to buy PY's off the shelf as well as custom ordering them. The U.S. market wasn't so fortunate."
