I personally love have cadence and use that more than speed. My wireless speed sensor magnet ran out of batteries so I only had cadence for about 150 mi before I replaced the battery and I enjoyed it and feel it made me a better rider. If you're not racing, speed isn't as important as keeping your body in the right threshold for your length of ride, speed will be determined by all the other factors. I compare it to drag racing where you don't shift at a certain speed but a certain RPM. I found when I first got my comp with cadence that I was WAY low (~50) and have used the comp to bring it up to over 70 and feel way better on long rides. Depending on the type of riding, I would recommend it.
