Most people will agree -- Taking up a salesperson's time only to buy it online (especially something as time consuming as trying on shoes) is very inappropriate. I actually do the opposite. I use the web to research products, then buy them from a LBS when possible. Buying shoes on line is a crap shoot (don't ask how I know).
