M advice to the OP is to flush with the shifters with WD-40 or mineral spirits to soften the grease inside. Flush, then try to actuate. If you get nothing, flush some more and wait a few hours and try again. They should eventually come back to life assuming that they worked when you parked the bike. I've brought back quite a few shifters this way, some that sat for many, many years. After you get them working, spray some lube like Tri-Flow in there to keep things functioning smoothly.
