The even better deal was the Force Racing for $1750, but since this is my first road bike (and I'm only a recreational/fitness rider) I didn't want to go overboard. I figured a Rival would be enough bike for me to enjoy and not outgrow for a while. But that pricetag on the Force made it very difficult to exercise restraint when I placed my order
