Too many people don't want to look broke and the bicycle will do exactly that unless it's an expensive model. In the inner city, the bicycle is considered the poor mans motorcar and it's an image most want to avoid at all costs.
Its like some of the people I know, ( I won't mention who
). They live in the worst apartment, usually 2 families but they all drive BMW's and Mercedes. Its ridiculous. Also, they are probably salvaged because they have a thousand problems. I guess its the image behind it, sad kinda.
Too many people worry about what others think and not enough about how it benefits them.
