Yep, the ancient Egyptians actually preferred cobalt blue glass to lapis lazuli for its deeper color, even texture, translucence, etc. All that blue stuff in King Tut's tomb was glass.
But I need to ask a bike related question... Okay, how's this: what does cobalt glass have to do with bikes?
