I'm seeing different numbers on the crank specs and I THINK this means that the Trek will be easier to climb hills with? Or do I have this backwards?
Cannondale = 48/38/28
Trek = 48/36/26
The Trek's lowest gear (at 26T) is a little easier on the uphill than the Quick's (at 28T). However, that assumes they have the same lowest gear on the rear, which may not be the case.
[EDIT] Just checked. Yes, both the 7.4 FX and the Quick 4 has the lowest rear sprocket (gear) with 32T, which means the FX is a little easier on the hill than the Quick. In addition, the FX has 9-speed on the rear whereas the Quick 4 has 8-speed. Since both range from 11T to 32T, it means the FX should give you a bit finer control than the Quick 4 does.
