Bikes: '96 Litespeed Catalyst, '05 Litespeed Firenze, '06 Litespeed Tuscany, '20 Surly Midnight Special, All are 3x10. It is hilly around here!

If the damage is pitting or deep scratches, that type of polishing won't remove it. If the bearing surface is just a bit rough from crude manufacturing, polishing it will improve the surface.
