Yeah, nail polish is the way to go. I rode my old Nishiki right into the CVS pharmacy, pulled up to the nail polish rack and started looking for a match. That Nishiki had a wierd color red, magenta thing going on. I got lucky after a few minutes and found a match that was close enough. You should have seen the guy at the counter's face as I rode up to pay for the polish.

i've had some successful results using nail polish enamel too.
actually up for some heavy-ish touchup work. this gives me great idea.
was worrying how i'd bring a sample chip—i was even thinking peeling some paint off—into Sephora, where there're hell lot more, wider selections of nail lacquer can be found, including some metalic colors.
why not bringing the frame with me, right? genius.
