There were some absolute statements about "never finance a toy", which elicited nice responses from John J., but it all just seemed to be people discussing pros and cons.
Then you ride in and declare it negative. You have done this in other threads as well, and it is odd.

I hear you and am not surprised by your reaction. I find that I take what folks say at face value, but others give more leeway. When someone says it is wrong to buy a luxury item without having saved up the cash for it, I believe they mean it. When someone says that the 0% financing seems like "cheating", same thing. There was a lot of that early on in this thread. And most likely I synthesized that with other similar comments in other similar threads. Now, you are also right that lots of the negativity later on was offered up by me. No doubt. But (hold on for this) I see my posts as "positive negativity". Okay, you can stop laughing now. What I mean is I am using negative language to make a positive point, i.e. that credit is an incredibly powerful financial tool, that used properly can have tremendous benefit for the individual as well as the economy. Be assured I wasn't targeting you or Merlin at all. Yes, many other folks did say that under the right circumstances, deals like this could be good. I just saw an opportunity for a little humor (did it miss?), a chance to jab at those who can't say, "whatever works, Dude!"
By the way, I don't consider "wrong, wrong, wrong" and "really" to be incendiary. Hey, you have to say what you mean. When someone places an opinion here, whether it is explicitly written out or just implied, he is saying "right, right, right". To deny that, I think, is naïve. Saying the opposite is just as valid and acceptable. And those comments carry no insult, just a strong point of view. Anyway, thanks for the comments. Knowing that your read of things does match that of many others, I should be prepared when people think I have gotten out of line. I just really like spirited discussion.
