Unseasonably warm and I've been hammering a bit on my modest daily commute (20.4 miles RT) so by today I was tired.
I decided to "take it easy" today but as I rode in I started to feel good and upped the pace and hammered into work again at pretty close to max. I figured I'd do a lazy ride home but then realized I don't have to go in tomorrow so I figured I'd just go for the burn and I really blazed home. Got home and discovered I'd left my phone at work!
Turned around and had to power back before the building was closed. I got the phone and thought the 40 mile day would be a sufficient workout and I would ramble home at a snail's pace. A couple of miles into the ride home the wind whips up right in my face and a thunderstorm is roaring at me out of the Southwest. I hunkered down and pounded the pedals home into a fierce rainy head wind with lightning flashing all around me.
40.8 miles later and after a long day at work, I'm beat.
