Bikes: Too Numerous (not)

I used to run IGH's on all my kids' bikes and one of my tourers (nexus-7's). I slowly rotated all of them out of my stable (many were installed on tandems --which I think is a perfect place for them). I don't like the extra weight nor the extra hassle of rear wheel removal nor the possibility of failure leaving you stranded. With normal cassette and derailer you can kludge together (road fix) a temporary drive train from almost anything that failed. Not sure one could say that about IGH's.

That said, I've never used a Rohloff. My experience is with nexus-7, alfine-8 (still on my wife's tourer), and nexus-4 (still on my commuter). I've given away 6 nexus-7's either directly or as a rebuild on old schwinn-twinn tandems (for which they are perfect!).
