I'm not sure any pedal power meter can realistically hit a $800 price point. If the majority of the cost is the setup and installation of the strain gauges, and a pedal system requires 2 strain gauges. The other solutions can get by with one.
For lowest system cost, Stages is going to be challenging to beat just because its one simple component.
To be fair, the Look system is $800 more expensive than the Vector. Plus, Look/Polar took the comically stupid path of using Polar's protocol instead of ANT+. Finally, the Look system has been much more poorly reviewed. So don't make too many assumptions about how the Vector will do based on how the Look system is doing.
That said, I'm not buying either. That window has closed.
