Thats because of the Market. I had the same in Portugal. At the stores, over 50% were mountain bikes, then a bit of road bikes. Commuting and utility bikes were well under 10% and don't look cool. Even if people went shopping with their car...that does not take 1full day a week. It's not just due to terrain that people don't cycle that much, it's almost all due to mentality. How many people do you see parking outside a crowded city center and taking out a folding bicycle to cycle the rest of their commute?
