1. Light malfunctions, then you've got it's weight plus the weight of an external light- if you can mount the external one where it is the most usable.
2. Damaged helmet, then you've got a helmet and a perfectly good light that you can't use.
3. The built-in light may: be too bright, not bright enough, or have the desired flash pattern.
But if you want to pony up the dough for a helmet with integrated light(s), check out Lazer and Torch.
All very good points but, I guess I was thinking more in terms of auxiliary lights just to be seen not a primary light.
