12+ years at my current job, and various times before that. I've never owned a car, though I did drive my wife's car to work for a while. I really don't remember why I did that. Anyway, I now ride my bike every time I go to work. If I don't ride, I don't go to work. Haven't been hit by a moving vehicle yet. I hit my hand on an opening car door once (bloodied knuckle). I got hit by a goose once (no injury to me or the goose). I got a stick in my front wheel and went over the handlebars, causing some damage to the front fender; another time I got a stick in my front wheel and went down, tearing my pants and scraping my knee. I have swallowed a lot of bugs (better for me than for the bugs).
