Bikes: Casati, Look, Torelli, Ridley, and a bunch of steel bikes from the 80s and the 90s..

I always thought the Campy or Suntour Superbe (early to mid 80's) were real close in terms of feel or comfort. Again, yoiu get used to it. Maaybe I was young, and just didn't have much choice due to cost or lack of available levers. I switched to Shinamo 8 speed SPd, and found the large shaped hood too bulky but eventually got used to it. The smaller traditional Campy lever, with the cable sticking out, felt too small after that. if I had to do a 60 miles race, the last thing I worry would be the comfort of my hood. I do like the SRAM lever's feel and the old DA 9 spd with the cable sticking out the side. That little cable acts like a resting place and to keep my hand from slipping off the front when I lead the guys at full on charge over the potholes on our training rides. I don't do those anymore due to the lack of miles on the bike now.

I also have never found any bars to be uncomfortable. However, the flat top TTT bars I just put on my Ridley take some getting use to. They felt great when I held them at my local shop so I bought it on the spot. That edge of the flat part cause a little discomfort on my left hand when I am on the top of the bar with death grip over our city streets.
